Why Saddle Fit Matters

10 Steps of Saddle Fitting

Interesting Facts

Why Saddle Fit Matters

DOES YOUR HORSE DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING?

  • Objects to being girthed or mounted

  • Reluctant to stride out

  • Unable or unwilling to round his back and work in a frame

  • Stumbling or tripping excessively

  • Rushing fences

  • Unable to travel straight

  • Resists collection work and transitions

  • Bucks after jumps

  • Ears pinned, tail swishing

  • Does your horse move like a Grand Prix superstar in the field but not under saddle?

Almost all of these are signs of some degree of back pain and the majority of that back pain is directly related to a poorly fitting saddle.

AS A RIDER, DO YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING?

  • You can't seem to keep your leg under you

  • You fight to stay in balance

  • You can never seem to please your instructor with your position

  • You and your horse seem to fight against each other instead of working in harmony

  • You experience your own back pain

Trained master saddle fitters can help properly fit saddles to enhance both horse and rider allowing more freedom of movement and prevent a multitude of lameness problems.
